Ugly concrete ceiling with texture, how can I make it look smooth like drywall?

We live in a condo with a concrete ceiling and I am looking for ideas on how to make it look smooth like drywall, without the expense and without lowering the ceiling height. Does anyone know of an economical and/or time saving way to fix this?Ugly concrete ceiling with texture, how can I make it look smooth like drywall?
The best thing I can think of is to go to a home improvement store and get sheets of luan to cover the ceiling with. It is a light weight material that will stick to the ceiling using some drylock. Depending on how big the ceiling is, it should not cost you too much.Ugly concrete ceiling with texture, how can I make it look smooth like drywall?
sticking luan wood to the ceiling is lunacy.Sticking any kind of sheeting to the concrete ceiling is moronic.

Whar you need to do is put a smooth plaster surface on the ceiling,,,a very thin one.

First insure that the surface of the ceiling is stabile and can accept plaster. The roughness of the ceiling now is a plus--it will give good adhesion to the plaster.

You get Sheetrock Lightweight All Purose Joint Compound and put it on with a wide ';knife';

When it dries you can easily sand out any rough spots.
