How can I match the texture of the wall after repairing a hole?

I have a 9'; x 4'; dent in a bathroom wall, directly opposite a medicine cabinet. I can easily patch the hole since the area is just dented in. But I don't know how to create the textured apperance to match the rest of the wall after I spackle and sand the area. How can I match the texture of the wall after repairing a hole?
i would just wait for the spakle to dry, and then sand it the next day, then paint the entire bathroom, and it should all be the same texture with the paint. may be a little more work since you'll have to paint the whole bathroom, but there will be no contrasts. How can I match the texture of the wall after repairing a hole?
if it's ';crows-foot'; texture you can do this with a crows foot ';brush'; they sale for about 6.00 bux. OR a wisk broom will work well for that size patch.

to make the texture you will need to buy the smallest container of dry wall mud you can find and mix a small amount with water until it's syrupy, (impossible to explain you will just have to experiment). take the brush or the broom mix it in the batter and slap it on. simple!

if it's ';orange peel'; or ';slap-drag'; style texture, that's usually sprayed on. if slap drag you let it set for a few minutes then knock it down with a dry wall knife.

whatever the case, for the size patch you are talking about, experiment around with the mud, and a dry wall knife and you can figure out something....or em me and i will help further.

i dont use the spry on stuff described earlier. its great, but man, when they say cover everything, they mean cover everything!
bear gave you a great answer +1 to hem. Only other thing is when you got the texture spray bring in a paint chip and get the paint matched.
Sherwin Williams has texture in a spry can..there is a nozzle to adjust the flow of texture and look you want to achieve.

I warn you....COVER EVERYTHING..lol..this stuff departs the can like no tomorrow!!! It works great however. I would mask all around the patched area and cover the remaining of the wall and floor. Have a bucket of water and a sponge handy. spray the material on and then pull all the tape and plastic right away before it dries. let it set up over night and paint it in the morning. Good Luck
Depends on the testure you have on the wall now. If is an orange peel texture, you can buy it in a can and spray it on. If it's knock down or skip texture, you can do this fairly simple with drywall mud and a 12'; knife. But without more info, it's hard to answer. Give more details please.
