Is the siding a large part of the exterior or a smaller accent part to the house? Ask someone who does siding and home exteriors what they think. Look on the web at homes for sale and see if there is a home with this exterior on it so you have an idea what it will look like. Some of the contractors have computer programs where they can give you a virtual look at what the house may look like. They may charge for the service but it's cheaper than redoing the wall.How does texture coating look on exterior wood siding?

However a texture coating on wood will look like a missmatch.
Sand the wood siding and put a high quality urethane or varnish coating on.
